Last Injection and only 2 weeks to go!

In exactly two weeks time we'll be on a plane! I still can't quite believe it.

We also got the joining instruction email for our boat trip around the Galapagos over the weekend, so I spent a good hour looking at pictures of the islands and wildlife and generally getting excited about it all.

As a reminder of the (vague) plan...

I had my final injection for my suite of vaccinations early this morning - bringing the total to 9. This one done by a new nurse who managed to make it crazily painful and leave a hefty bruise...! Can't say my needle phobia has improved much, but I've got much better at pretending it's not happening :)

Argentina and Gauchos

So today we've confirmed the final two hotels in Argentina, in Cordoba and Buenos Aires.

We're also looking into a gaucho riding school/experience to go on - they seem to combine riding, barbeque and wine, which sounds like a good way to spend a day!

Typhoid

The worldwide shortage of Typhoid vaccinations continues, meaning I can't get hold of the more effective injection version of the vaccine for love nor money.

So today I picked up my prescription to the alternative; a course of tablets containing the live bacteria to be taken throughout this week every other day.

This means that this week I not only have a mild case of Typhoid, I also have more of it living in my fridge...!

Spanish

I'm currently trying to learn some Spanish, with some CDs and a book. It's tough, two weeks in and I can say hello, goodbye (for the right times of day), a few other basic phrases. I can also count to 10. Not stunning progress...

It's hard work though! I'm never been a natural at learning languages.

Also realised that South American Spanish is slightly different to European Spanish...

I've also got a CD for Brazilian Portugese, but to save utterly confusing myself that will be for study whilst on the trip itself.
